My Month in Review: April 2017

And just like that birthday month came and went. I feel like April just flew off the needles ... eh, flew by. The month was filled with lots of family visits, friends, celebrations and just felt gooooood (except for the last few days which felt shitty due to a long overdue cold, so, yeah.).

So let's get into our April review, shall we?

MY GOALS FOR APRIL WERE…

  • Launch an email list for the shop & get as many people as possible to sign up

  • Have two successful two-toned collection shop updates (i.e. sell at least 40 bags)

  • Book in 10 Exploration Calls and get 3 new client projects from them

  • Conceptualise, set up & start a free challenge

  • Finish my test knits for WOODS

  • Take the calmness and clarity I came back with from vacation into daily life

WHAT WENT WELL?

Conceptualise, set up & start a free challenge

Meet the #getshitdonechallenge! So - technically, the challenge doesn't start until May 5, but I'm still counting it as a success because I got the concept done, wrote down everything that is going to happen during the challenge, and started the sign up process.

See that large bar there? That's the start of the challenge sign ups! :)

See that large bar there? That's the start of the challenge sign ups! :)

Now, I haven't done all the content yet - filming and editing videos is on top of my to do list - but I'm super super excited because we already have over 100 participants and a really lovely lively intro discussion going on over in the FB group!

I loved working on this which is a good thing because quite a big chunk of my May will be spent producing content and leading the challenge :) Come join us (over here) if you want to!

Take the calmness and clarity I came back with from vacation into daily life

I'd book this as a win even though April was not a calm month as in - a lot of shit got done. But I still feel less frazzled and more on top of things than I did in February and beginning of March which is good! Taking one step at a time, breathing, trying to take time out and learn how much I can get done in a day or a week and not feeling bad about scheduling a few weeks in advance really helps.

WHAT DIDN'T GO SO WELL:

Have two successful two-toned collection shop updates (i.e. sell at least 40 bags)

Argh. Well, this one is a bit tricky because I did have one very successful shop update at the beginning of the month - and then a second one that was not so successful at the end of the month. See for yourself:

You can clearly see the order and revenue bumps on the days of my shop update - and you can also see that the first one produced a much larger bump in terms of both than the second one. I still had a really good month - a lot better than March, in fact! Which is amazing because now April is my second best month after February :)

I consciously experimented with having two shop updates in a month because I really want to make two shop updates a month work - and I will continue this in the next months, maybe with a little bit of a twist (different days, times, limited editions maybe).

So yeah - booking this one as semi-successful, but still really happy about shop performance!

Finish my test knits for WOODS

Ehm. Almost.

Undecided:

Launch an email list for the shop & get as many people as possible to sign up

New category!! I decided to add an "Undecided" to also show you what happens if you set yourself goals that are either a) not measurable (like this one) or b) inconclusive (like the next one).

So - I DID launch an email list for the shop, yayyyy! (If you're interested, you can sign up here.) BUT - I did not specify how many people I wanted to sign up. Currently we are at 24 which is okay, but I'd like to grow this a bit further. So yeah, still working on this one!

Book in 10 Exploration Calls and get 3 new client projects from them

Hahaha. So, yeah - talk about an inconclusive goal. I do in fact have 3 new client projects (almost 4!), but I only booked 2 Exploration Calls. How is that possible, you ask? Well, one of the Exploration Calls did join me for Creative Boss Coaching (yayyy, so excited!) - the other is hopefully (fingers crossed!) going to apply for a scholarship.

Then I had one of the older Exploration Call clients join me for a Creative Boss Coaching project (so technically another conversion, yay!) and the third new client project is a trade with my friend Vivian where I get design work from her and she gets coaching from me.

So - really happy with how many new coachees I have this month, but still figuring out how to get more people interested in Exploration Calls!

THE PRIVATE STUFF

The PRIVATE stuff. Yeah. Well, it's honestly been a month full of work and family visits. I did have a lovely birthday and a relaxing weekend trip to Stockholm, but other than that it's been pretty much full speed. I also unfortunately didn't really get back on track with regards to eating habits until the last few days - Easter and my birthday kicked my butt with lots of wheat and sugar and I knew that this was going to come back and bite me.

Which it promptly did a few days ago in the form of the first cold I've had in months. Luckily, I (fingers crossed) was able to shake it with two days of rest, yoga and lots of tea.

MY GOALS FOR May

  • Finish the setup work for the #getshitdonechallenge and have happy challenge participants!
  • Have another successful shop update (May 16)
  • Organize everything for my next project bag collaboration (coming in June)
  • Book in 5 Exploration Calls
  • Get 3 new coaching clients
  • Get a good amount of yarn partner submissions and at least 70 design submissions for BREEZE (the 2nd book by making stories!)
  • Get 10 more stockists for WOODS
