On womxn tearing each other down.

If you're part of the knitting community on Instagram and / or Twitter you've probably come across the discussion that ensued two days ago about a certain picture of a sweater by Verena Cohrs for Laine Magazine Issue 3.

If you haven't heard of it, let me give you a quick run down of what happened:

When the Ravelry page for that particular design was put up by the publishers a few weeks ago, comments and emails criticizing the photo started to arrive on Ravelry and in the designer's inbox almost immediately.

My Month in Review: October 2017

It's 6pm, and it's dark outside. Happy November - almost! We've turned back the clocks the past weekend, and while I really like that it's a lot lighter when I get up and gets dark sooner, the change feels somehow more pronounced this year.

Maybe it's because this time of the year leads to me reflecting more, maybe I'm just paying more attentions to my surroundings - who knows. I quite like noticing things I haven't noticed before.

October treated me well in some regards, and in others, it's been very intense and emotionally draining. It's been mostly good though and I'm excited and feel ready for the holiday season!

On feeling overwhelmed.

Hello friends! I'm back! A few of you might have wondered what happened after my week of vacation as I didn't post anything last week - and I've also been less active on Instagram than usual. Don't worry, everything is good - it's just A LOT of work at the moment.

Last week was, frankly speaking, completely overwhelming and exhausting. I've always been a hard worker, but this, this took the crown of "weeks with not enough sleep and too many hours in front of a laptop and BRAIN IS FRIED" with a long shot.

My Month in Review: July 2017

Another month is over and we're already a few days into August! Time to talk about July. July was good and bad - both professionally and personally, and it was also exhausting. But! Let's not fret, let's instead talk about what happened in July!

My Month in Review: June 2017

Welcome summer!! Welcome July - although I can't believe we're into the second half of 2017, but that's how life goes. I'm excited to update you on the last month because June was filled with a lot of work, but very good work! July will likely be a little bit slower because there's going to be a lot of prep and behind the scenes work - but let's not get ahead of ourselves!

First up, here's what went down in June:

How to engage your audience (aka Instagram is kicking my butt right now). - Part IV (the final one!)

Over the past few weeks, I've been sharing my progress on experimenting with quite a lot of different things on my Instagram account - after I noticed a massive drop in engagement, presumably because of a change in Instagram's algorithm. Now, during the last two weeks - since my last progress report - I tried to get back to a normal Instagram routine because I figured running the experiment forever and ever would a) get boring, b) not get more conclusive and c) not be manageable anymore! After all, there are only so many hours in a day, and I desperately wanted to find a way to back to an Instagram routine that worked for me AND made my posts visible.
